I’m hard at work on a commission from the percussion trio Tela Rasa. There are marbles involved. Stay tuned for the premiere in a month or so!

Coffee Hands

My new piece for orchestra, Coffee Hands, is complete (minus a few edits in the last movement). The piece explores the music of the various cultures involved in the coffee trade. Now to find an orchestra to play it! I’ll hopefully have some demo tracks up soon.

Premieres concert at MSU on Tuesday 4/17

Some fantastic percussionists have undertaken my piece, 5 Wet, for metal water bottles. The rest of the concert looks pretty interesting, too. We will have some pre-concert jazz happening as well. Come if you can!

Isle of May reading

The MSU Wind Symphony was gracious enough to do a reading of Isle of May today. They did a great job with a difficult piece! Time to edit. The piece will be played next year by one of the wind ensembles at MSU.

“Isle of May” wins competition

My work Isle of May won the MSU Honors Competition for Composition in the wind symphony category. This means I will have the piece programmed and performed by the highly talented MSU wind symphony this coming fall. Very exciting!

Jan 21, 2012. New Voices Festival @ CUA, Washington, D.C. 10am concert in the St. Vincent de Paul chapel. Wisdom will be performed by Matthew Yost, accompanied by John Henderson.

Critical Mass

February 2, 2012: Critical Mass will be the closing work on a solo recital by Ryan McMasters. Center Avenue United Methodist Church, Pitcairn, PA. 7:30 pm. I am incredibly grateful to Ryan for continuing to champion this tough piece!

November 22nd concert

Another MSU Premieres concert is on the horizon. This one will include my solo clarinet piece, Water:Dance, written for and performed by Dr. Cassandra Hibbard. I may also be premiering a fun little piano solo called The Latin Tinge. Hope you can make it!

Big news for East Lansing- Ryan McMasters has agreed to come up from Pittsburgh to play Critical Mass, my piece for solo bass, at a concert of new music November 1 (At 7:30pm in Hart Recital Hall). Ryan McMasters, bassist extraordinaire, played Critical Mass in Pittsburgh a couple weeks ago as part of a solo bass recital. He’s a very talented guy and I appreciate both his interest in new music and the exposure this piece is getting!
