Astor’s Nod

Astor’s Nod for solo flute (2011). Duration: [7' 30"]

Astor's Nod

.

Astor’s Nod is the result of a symbiosis project in which I had the opportunity to work closely with Alysa Treber, a talented flutist. I’ve been looking at some of Bach’s cello suites and was very interested in the idea of implying harmonies with a single line. I also wanted to explore the agility and flexibility of the flute. A piece I heard by Astor Piazzolla (hence, Astor’s Nod) was inspiration for the latin feel of this solo.
